Cushcraft R9 Nine-Band Vertical Antennas provide coverage encompassing the 80, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10, and 6-meter bands. Cushcraft achieved a major breakthrough in the development of an HF multi-band vertical antenna that has been specifically designed for use with a tuner and amplifier. As a result, the antenna more accurately addresses the needs of the contemporary ham shack.
Although these antennas are best operated within their 2.0:1 VSWR bandwidth, they can withstand a 3.0:1 SWR mismatch at full power for typical operating intervals. Now, radio amateurs can take full advantage of the versatility that a tuner, used in conjunction with a multi-band HF vertical antenna, can give them.
Cushcraft R9s can handle a full 1,500 watts PEP or up to 500 watts CW. Built on the shoulders of the very successful R7 and R8 antennas, the R9 continues to widen access to the spectrum by adding 80-meters to the list. As in the other "R-Series" multi-band vertical antennas, no RF ground system or network of radials is required. For hams with space limitations or stealth concerns, an R9 mounted near the ground could provide multi-band freedom and unlimited QSOs!!
