Choosing A Mobile Antenna
HF mobile opperation is a challenge not the least because the antenna is very short relative to a full size antenna. For this reason it makes sense to choose carefully. Single band models tend to be the most efficient and have the advantage that they can be trepanned. The bandwidth of a mobile antenna is very narrow, but as most modern radios have an ATU, this enables you to move away from the remnant frequency and still obtain a low VSWR. Because the coax run is very short, the losses are minimal if the VSWR is below 4:1.
One of our most popular ange of mobile antennas are the Diamond range from Japan. These are superbly built and offer one of the best VSWRs because of their design.
